Balaganjur The musical accompaniment that traditionally resonates in the streets of Bali in ritual processions. The dense and delicate interweaving of melodic Reyong alternates with the ringing cymbals kopyak.
Baris literally Baris means line (of soldiers). It 's an ancient warrior dance of ritual initiation, through which young boys show their physical maturity. In ceremonies it’s present in over 20 different styles, for groups ranging from 4 to 60 dancers. The solo form marks the transition from ritual participation to artistic virtuosity, a sequence of quick shots and short balances: surrounded by mysterious and hostile presences, the dancer is moved by creative energy with impeccable control. A tough challenge for the musicians to follow his darting!
Cewek Cantik (beautiful girl) musical composition by E. Masseroli. A simple song, conceived from memories of a melody heard somewhere in Bali, developed so that even novice musicians could play.
Tabuh Tek Campur (mixed sonata for Tek ) an original creation by E. Masseroli, based on a set of rare instruments made of bamboo, called "Tek", generous gift of musician friends. There are reworked frames of popular Balinese rhythmic patterns, with a minimalist final part where echoes of memories of Steve Reich may be heard.
Jauk Rwa Bhinneda Jauk is a demon that appears in the sacred drama Calon Arang beside the Barong. It occurs in two formskeras(hard) and manis(sweet) which here meet and compare: impetuous and arrogant one, an ironic joker the other.
Hujan Mas (Golden rain) famous music composition of the ’30, in Kebyar style. His compositional structure starts with long phrasing of gangsas in kotekan (interlocking), followed by the response of reyong and culminating in a long vigorous phrase "ostinato", where all sections of the small orchestra weave their voices.
